A&M, College Station win high rankings (Posted: Wednesday, August 29, 2012 12:02 a.m.)
Texas A&M is the nation¡¯s second-best university, and it¡¯s in the nation¡¯s best college town, according to two rankings released this week.
Washington Monthly rated the campus runner-up to only the University of California at San Diego after considering factors such as research and service.
The monthly magazine also considered the university¡¯s recruitment and graduation rates of students from low-income families.
The ranking came the same day that College Station was named the best college town by Livability.com, a website that highlights the nation¡¯s best places to live and visit.
The website said the city offered a low cost of living, plenty of night life and a spirited bunch of Aggie fans.
Other cities on the list were Oxford, Miss.; Logan, Utah; Champaign, Ill.; Lawrence, Kan.; Corvallis, Ore.; Bloomington, Ind.; Athens, Ga.; Ann Arbor, Mich.; and Blacksburg, Va.
